About Us

We are a community choir who love to sing! We enjoy singing together, working on improving our singing skills and repertoire, and socialising together. Cate Cadman BMus (Hons) – Musical Director

Cate is a professional musician with over 20 years experience of performing and teaching. She studied Music at Sheffield University. She has worked with various choirs and orchestras, performing, conducting and directing at a wide variety of venues, including Sheffield City Hall, The Albert Hall (Nottingham), Leeds City Hall, The Royal Albert Hall (London), as well as numerous smaller local venues. When singing with Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus, Cate sang with the Halle Orchestra, The Royal Liverpool Philarmonic Orchestra, and was part of productions that were broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Cate has produced many musical theatre productions of an extremely high quality with children. She has a passion for music and aims to enthuse others and encourage them to love making music to the best of their ability. She is a qualified teacher who also teaches flute, saxophone and piano up to and including ABRSM Grade 8 standard.

Lorna Mellor, B. Ed (Hons) – Piano Accompanist

Lorna’s graduation with a degree from Nottingham University formed a strong foundation for her wide-ranging musical career, which now spans well over 30 years. Lorna’s qualifications to ABRSM Grade 8 standard in both piano and voice equip her to teach both of these subjects to the highest standard. She is particularly proud of the position she held as a voice coach to the choristers of Lincoln Cathedral.  The breadth of her teaching experience ranges from Primary to A Level standard. Her specialist subjects include Music, Religious Studies and Philosophy & Ethics. She has worked in both public and private educational sectors in a number of locations within the UK, the Middle East and the US. As an extremely accomplished pianist and qualified teacher, Lorna’s skills also extend to directing a wide variety of musical productions, both with children and adults. She is convinced that music contributes to general wellness and that making music has the potential to improve quality of life. Lorna has led and accompanied many choirs, played extensively for concerts, ballet classes, pantomimes, plays and ABRSM examinations. She is passionate about her contribution to church worship music and the flexible improvisational skills this requires. Lorna is currently a member of Southwell Choral Society.
